At Parents as Teachers, we believe the most important learning happens long before a child ever walks into a classroom.
From pregnancy through the early years of life, we partner with families to build strong foundations—because those first years shape everything that follows.
Parents as Teachers of Porter County is a community-based program dedicated to helping parents feel confident, supported, and connected as they raise their children.
We serve families with children from prenatal through kindergarten, offering guidance, resources, and encouragement every step of the way.
But more than anything—we’re partners.
We meet families where they are, honor their experiences, and walk alongside them as they navigate the joys and challenges of early childhood.
We provide personalized, relationship-based support through:
• Home visits that focus on your child’s development and your family’s goals
• Developmental screenings to help track milestones and identify needs early
• Parenting resources and activities that make learning part of everyday life
• Group connections and events that build community and reduce isolation
Everything we do is designed to support both the child and the parent—because when parents feel confident, children thrive.

The first five years of life are a time of incredible growth.
During this window, children develop:
• Language and communication skills
• Social and emotional connections
• Motor skills and independence
• Curiosity and confidence
At the same time, parents are learning too.
We’re here to make sure no one has to figure it out alone.
We believe:
• Parents are their child’s first and most important teacher
• Every family deserves respect, support, and access to resources
• Early support creates lifelong impact
Our work is relationship-driven, evidence-based, and grounded in the belief that small moments—reading a book, asking a question, playing together—create big change.
Every day, we see:
• Parents gaining confidence
• Children reaching milestones
• Families feeling more connected and supported
And those moments ripple outward—into schools, communities, and future generations.

“At Parents as Teachers, we’re not just supporting early learning—we’re supporting the people who make it possible.
This work is about connection, confidence, and creating a foundation that lasts a lifetime.”
